pistol shrimp pics

Took a gamble on an old friends advice and bought a pistol shrimp to save my snails and tiny hermits, plus they are very cool to boot...two weeks later and havent lost any snails or crabs, heard a bunch of popping the second night and not much since, heres some pics I managed to catch this evening.

Nice pics. I have a blue one but it will never come out of the burrow. Sometimes at night with a red led flashlight I can see him just inside moving stuff but besides that I never see mine. I hear the gun shots going off all the time though...:xd: Sometimes he get a good one off and it sounds like someone just hit the glass on the tank with a 9 iron.

I am not understanding the part about saving snails/hermits.I had a pistol shrimp that killed them.Am I missing something?

Never had a problem with the Yasha type pistols killing other inverts, but with the tiger like the one pictured, yup... I do have problems with him killing smaller inverts.Even If I go out of my way to keep him fed.

Maybe his friend was claiming they would kill mantis shrimp which he believed was killing his CUC. But yeah, I have to agree with others, the tiger pistols will kill CUC members as well.
