I’ve got some pretty bad bubble algae in my sump and have been thinking about adding pithos crab or 2 to help keep it under control. I dont want them to decimate my refugium chaeto though, how quickly will these guys eat chaeto? I’ve got a gallon milk jug sized ball of it now

What about emerald crabs? I have had good luck with those and bubble algae.

Added 8 emerald crabs to my 150 once I caught the mantis shrimp.
I used to remove bubble algae weekly and now you can only find a few bubbles.
Never had an issue with them as my 150 is 90% acros.

My Pitho and Emerald crabs will eat any greens I feed them but 2 ain't gonna do much to your cheato. If they see green they eat it. lol. I have to feed mine since they don't have anything left to eat off the rocks.
Note: (in my opinion) Pitho's need/like sand to bury in so I would go with Emeralds.

My understanding was pithos crabs were better? I’ve never actually had a pithos crab but emerald crabs always munch on other things so I thought I would try something new

I have a bunch of trays of miracle mud that I never removed in the bottom of my fuge under the chaeto
