placing goniopora

I have a goniopora that is overgrowing the plug so I put it on a rock. Do I need to close this gap with reef putty or something? I don't want to mess up the coral since it's so close to the edge of the plug.

Personally I would put something under it so it looks more natural.

This is a good way to see if he'll be happy there without permanent mounting.

If he is happy there, you might superglue it down so he is not moving. I don't think it's necessary to fill voids; irl they must handle this.

The plug is pretty secure I think
