Hmm I named the coral Millipora but many are saying Stylophora. It does lack the ridges of a milli. Stylo is it?

Oh man you are so right. All black wires and I’ve already lost track of what is what. I started putting labels on key wires but still confusing. I’ve seen other people use wire cable guides? Any recommended videos on running wires in a sump?

PS today’s chemistry looking good cuz now I’ve got measurable nitrite.

I'm waiting on wire organization stuff from home depot, so we're in the same boat!!

BTW, here's a link on how to add your thread to your profile, and get the "build thread contributor" badge under your name!

Glad to see another Bay Area reefer on here!!

Why did you decide on two primes for light instead of one fixture over the middle like a XR30?

Thanks for the advice. Added build thread and supporter ‘badges’. Yes always exciting to see other Bay Area reefers! Will check out your build threads tonight!

Great question. I’m not fixed with current lighting system but achieves two things I want right now: 1) I don’t want any ‘rail’ mounting system that will get in the way of looking down into the lagoon - only flex arm or hanging system; I need coverage for front and back.. I could and might still use two Hydra 32hd on hanging kit or maybe two XR30 hung perpendicularly.

once I get my corals in the tank And look at the par/coverage I’ll have better idea.

what lighting system are you running and what do you like bout it?

Like many others I’m interested what would happen if I slowly increase ph from normal 8.07-8.11 swing to something approaching 8.3. Would coral growth increase? Would Alk / Ca levels drop suddenly?

I added some CO2 absorbent material to my skimmers intake and will continue to monitor alk daily to see what happens.

Has anyone seen positive or negative results from ph more towards 8.3?

Interesting. After four hours ph increased from 8.12 to 8.26 and a bit of the media turned blue. So I guess that means there is CO2 in the house even though I keep the door open more than half of the day.

Cool tank. I’ve got the 25 gallon AIO for a frag tank and love it. What return pump did you go with?
i tried the sicce syncra silent pumps buy ironically found them noisy. I ended up getting the jebao DCS-2000 which I absolutely love. It’s silent and so easy to vary the speed to get the flow just right.

What did you get for your returns and/or internal circulation?

Decided on compromise to extend media life and have modest increase in ph by mixing ambient with air through CO2 scrubbing media. I hope to extend media life to two weeks and current pH Max is 8.24 which is pretty darn good.

gunna track alk consumption and coral growth over next few weeks

The coral I’m monitoring for growth is cornbread’s bubblegum m.digitata. You can see new growth around edge and tips.
