Please check my flow plzzzz

I'm been having flow issue just trying to find the right flow for my tank. Can you guys watch my clip and see if my flow is okay or needs work? Thank you!

Flow actually looks pretty good for a LPS/softy tank. These ultimate goal is not too much and not too little. Also you don’t want them blowing in one direction. In your clip, I think you’ve done a good job with randomized flow as I see polyps and extension going both ways in the tank. That’s the ultimate goal. Of course you’ll always have low flow areas and as corals grow you may need to re position the power heads. But for now I’d say you’re doing great! What ever issue you had before I can’t tell. Great job!

well like @Reef Jedi said, it seems fine to me. Maybe it's a little bit strong, but with the vortechs you can set the flow to be a little more random like lagoon mode.

When you said issue, I assumed you were having detritus accumulating or dead spots.

One thing to just keep in mind, torches can take more flow then we think or give credit for. They naturally form in tidal pools and really enjoy randomized flow. As long as everything stays random and moving in all directions then that’s the key. If you start seeing excessive blowing in one direction then they will not like it. But so far you have good polyp extension all around.

Yeah so only one of my coral is really being blasted and that's the xenia all the way to the front right of glass. I running 3 wavewakers. 1 dmp20, 1 mp10 and a hygger crossflow. Flow was crazier before the video lol. I dialed everything down but the dmp is still pushing strong at lowest power 30%. I got it because it was cheaper than a mp10 but didnt realize that i couldnt set the dmp power lower than 30%. So i messed up. There was alot of deadspot before so this helped with my dead spots but the dmp is still a lil overkill. But i managed to tamed it a bit. Just the xenia taking most the blast now. But i dont want to spend another 400 on an mp10 . Ive tried my best with this set up. So far my corals are happy in this flow. But wanted to double check with you guys as well! Thank you!

Oh forgot to mention. The dmp20 is on only during light hours. Its turned off when lights are off. My light settings rn is 2-5-2. My tank was overheating few weeks ago because of the summer heatwave. I dialed it down for now. My blues are at 65%, white is 4%. So my corals gets to rest when dmp is off lol. Or do you think i should just leave the dmp on all the time??

Honestly that Xyena could survive a nuclear blast and would survive next to a Twinkie.

But in all seriousness I think it’ll be fine, it does flourish in gentle to medium flow and you’ll get more pulsing polyps the lower the flow. But I’ve also blasted it hard in the past and I swear it only made it spread faster lol

I generally turn down my pumps at night. Even in the wild, flow tends to be more mellow at night.

My only concern about turning pumps completely off at night is the fact that fish and snails like to crawl inside them. I've seen it happen before during water changes. Because of this I always make sure there's enough flow coming out of it that it's hard to get inside it you know?

yeah, and I've even kept xenia inside a jar next to the window with no flow for a week before. It survived.

Do you keep all your wavemakers on 24/7?

Yes, flow in the ocean never stops and some of the worst storms are at night. I keep mine on 24/7 on all random flow between 0-100%. I’m running two Tunze Orca 6075. In a 105 gallon. Anemones took over my tank and they love that randomized flow.

Yes i also thought that too if it was safe to turn off a wavemaker. But than i realized I'm running 3 of them lol and also my return pump. So maybe turning off the overkill dmp wouldnt be too bad? It gets more gentle after dmp is off nice lil break.

Do you have any small fish like a blenny that would “purch” on something or go in the wave maker when it’s off? Something to think about, don’t want to fall victim to that.
