FW dip and feeding with bit of garlic and a tiny bit of ginger. that was when i got him about 2-3 months ago

So that is not treating the parasite. It is still present in your system. The methods that have shown results with eliminating the parasite are treating the fish with copper, cholorquin phosphate, hyposalinity, or TTM.
