Hi fellow reefers,
Please help us divers on the Big Island help find the poachers that have been illegally taking and selling tropical fish from kona side, which is illegal. If u know any new sellers from anywhere in hawaii, selling fish let the Hawaii DLNR (Dept Of Land and Nat Reasources ) know. There is 5 $ k reward. We need to police this action so there is no more bad press for legal divers here on BigIsland. We all obey the law here, and respect the (Aina) land and sea.

No suspected names will be posted at all. Lets all keep the oceans sustainable as they have been in Hawaii in regards to tropical collecting since 1970.
MAHALO/THANKS
Aloha

Have any poachers been caught? I saw the 5k reward in the news but there’s not much about where the info about poaching is coming from. Not doubting it’s happening just curious.

Hi Emde,
The local Dlnr would not inform us to the affect unless they had serious evidence . We are standing by and, are trying to help them in there efforts. Please keep aware and ask questions. We all want to make sure that we comply .Our Hawaiian fish are precious, and sustainable . We want to keep it that way.

Thanks for your support.

Very interesting article about changing the wording in the Hawaii revised statues HRS ,basically clean up wording 181 pages worth. It will make impossible for folks like Umberger and snorkel bob, they will loose against us by trying to make all fisheries need to have a eas to be viable. The new wording on the HRS, points out at which time specifically need for an eas, or eis will need to be generated.

The very big thing about this new HRS restructuring will be very helpfull for us in Hawaii. The last survey showed way more fish are harvested for personal consumption than is taken by commercial boats. Which was a surprise to even us
On Big Island. A normal weekend here is we go to the beach, relax, start the barbeque, feed da kids hot dogs and teri chicken, while the older teenagers go out with 3 prong spear and get reef fish, maybe a taipe,or pakakui(achilies). Slapem down on the grill, get out chop sticks and have lunch, with poi and some pog to washem down.

The last attack on our fish by these interfering persons ,put that lifestyle at grave risk. Kids couldnt even go down to the tidepools and get baby shrimp for there own aquarium. Now there is protection in the HRS for family's. Thats very important to us. The tutu,s (elders) teach us to respect the land, dont take more than you can feed the family with. These are family traditions that are handed down, from one generation to the next.

Take care of the Aina!Save it for your younger siblings, and keki to come.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Lawyers will figure it out now. I think it bodes well for the kona guys. I guess the county has missed the 2.5 million in taxes a year ,it used to get,to a bonehead snorkel kingpin.who will kill the reef with smashy fins and deadly sunscreen. Its been proven scientifically it only takes parts per billion of sunscren to kill coral.
If you come here please wear blue lizard sunscreen. Wear a hat also. Uv index
