I'm very new to this and have inherited this tank, is there anyone who can identify this "worm" for me.

Looks like 1/2 worm. If you can remove it and photograph is in a shallow dish with a better background someone on here might be able to see what you have there.

Otherwise, how about a belated Welcome to Reef2Reef~!

Thank you for the advice. After removing , seems to have been a brisle. He was also dead. I have seen them before just seemed to be a tad bit different color. I have so much to learn. Not as easy as you would think, but it is pretty cool when I'm not anxious over it lol.
