To drain water into the floor drain, I'd use a hose and via siphon run it from the display tank to the grate. You can't use your drain plumbing because the tank would have to be constantly filling to provide the amount of water you want to take out during a water change. Where do you think that water is coming from? Your sump - what little bit remains in the return zone when you start this.

It's nice to have a floor drain, and I use one myself. I siphon water from the sump to my drain, but my sump is vastly larger than yours (mine can drain 50g from the skimmer and return zones).

yeah youd have to have small slots in the bottom of the overflow for it to even remotely work

Alright. I'm just going to forget about that idea. I have an extra pump I could use anyway. I'll just throw it beside my main pump and have it on a switch to were I can just turn it on to drain.

Ok! What I did on my return is made it straight up its a little easier on the pump so it doesn't have to go through all the bends

You may want to read my Plumbing 101 article just to provide you with additional knowledge as you proceed. Those soft elbows you chose are made for drain pipes. The socket where PVC glues in is 1/2" wide. All normal PVC fittings are 1" deep (or more) to avoid leaks.

Don't forget anti-siphon holes on the underside of your locline assembly. They should be located 1/2" beneath the normal water line, which you'll determine once the tank is full of running water. They prevent your tank from draining excess water when the power/pump is out.

I'm a little confused. We're exactly do I need to drill? I have seen people do it right were the Y is on the loc line. But that part is not submerged under water.

It needs to be 1/2" under the normal water's surface, so you won't really be able to determine that until you have it running. When you do, you can mark that spot with a rubberband, then turn off the pump, tilt up the locline and drill your hole. :)
