So while I'm waiting on some valves to arrive I'm trying to figure out how I want to arrange things in my sump. In my first chamber I have a skimmer and reef mat. My question is does it matter where I place them? I took some pictures of where I think they fit best. If you guys could give me some input ( if it matters at all)I'd appreciate it.

Picture 1, the one I'm leaning towards. I will have easy access to both skimmer cup and changing fleece rolls.

This is the second. I'll have good access to the reef mat but it will be slightly more difficult getting to the skimmer. Again I don't know if it even matters but I'm hard plumbing the reef mat so once its done its done.

What if the two swapped places in the first pic?
I haven't tried that. I'll swap it around tomorrow morning and see. Do you think it matters where they are placed or should I just be concerned about easy access?

It’s whatever works for you. Ease of access would be my main concern.

I don’t run a skimmer or a roller but from what I’ve seen placement varies and is dependent upon space availability.

You may need to put the skimmer in the second section? Unless the water height of the first is optimal for the skimmer.
