Click on their name and there's a start conversation button or hit the mail icon on the top left and then click start a conversation

@CCK_8814 if you “@“ them it will bring up a clickable name. However, if you wanted to do it without starting a thread or finding a post of theirs, at least from an iPhone, you can click your mail icon at the top, then “Start a new conversation,” then as you type in the name it should start a drop down menu with usernames to pick. The more you type in, obviously the more it filters the names
