Today's "Saturday Morning Tip" from Saltwater Aquarium dot com pushes for adding copepods before any fish. Is this a thing?

It can be. You can culture pods without anything else. People do it all the time. So You can start your pod population prior to adding fish and then when you have them, they have an abundant food source immedaitely.

I have a refugium section in my sump, but was going to wait to configure it. Do pods need a strong light source?

This is what I did for my most recent tank. I added some pods a few weeks before adding any fish. I set the tank up in May and the population is still going strong. I’ll probably replenish on my next order from Algaebarn
