I did scan through the threads to try and not rework prior threads.
I have a 2 month old 25 gal jbj ato. 3 chambers, carbon shock, water polish, media filter, up through new cheato chamber with 3 hrs of growth light at night, up and over to the skimmer then out through the small pump, a wave maker. Built with live rock, and live sand. LFS salt and rodi, (lucky me). An ATO with 2.5 gals of RODI. So I have a lot of faith in the quality of the wet goods. All the gadgets are on smart plugs.
I have so far a great experience, 6 corals and 2 clowns all appear thriving. I hand feed each clown about 6 mysis shrimp, with a tea spoon up to 2x per day, from a wet batch with added vitamins. There is enough juice for the rest of the inhabitants, at least provided there.
It almost seems like the genesis project, poof and there is thriving life. Measured through the cycle fine, 4 weeks presto.
Already much maturing, tube thingies, some green/brown hair, diatom, detritus worms, no cyano yet. Did a moderate scrub down and 3 changes so far, the last one was what I would call dirty.
I have a resource chart for dosing corrective Alk, Mg, and Ca, although not accurate, at least is consistent. I do half of the recommended supplement keeping parameters in check.
I have 2 auto feeders I was offered at half price, available to use.
Using Redsea foundations. I use britewell clean, elements and bactor7, Nopox, and I haven't done anything since the start up doses. 2 weeks ago.
Trying to acquire knowledge, life long fresh water whisperer, new to reefing.
The LFS uses the the Brightwell 2 part Alk and CA.
The LFS has the coral gestapo who welcomes me with "your tank is too new", then says have a nice day "Its not mature, 1-2 years", they won't guaranty me their live goods I have 6 of the EZ variety. I get the concern, but as I said, I have a good eye for things.
Finally and thanks for looking!
the questions.
Am I really whistling by the grave yard?
What would be a good use of the 2 pumps for micro dosing.
thirdly, I am really interested in setting up a pod/phtyo culture kit from posidonreef kit. It would almost be like a separate project
I have some space in my work from home office, so it would weirdly be another aqua project growing plankton. So does the scale work out for such a small reef tank, and what about timing, dangers and whatnot. I have only sourced things from my LFS and I am terrified of adding a strange new variable.
Thanks!
