My family will sometimes give certain fish a pet name but not usually.

Not the best picture, but the clown on the left is the female we named Clementine, and the males name is Felix.

my yellow watchman goby is goby wan kenobi, but I don't have pics of him because he's always hiding,and my mandarin doesn't have a name yet...
