I have a mixed reef and everything grows great except my rasta zoas. Their always mad n I'll never understand. Their not dead but never happy. Everything else including other zoas r great.

I'm starting to think the same thing about my Jedi Mind Trick. It's been in the tank a month and hasn't grown one bit. The color isn't as bad as the pic, but it's definitely not a bright red and green. All Montipora, I only have one that does well but any other one I put in my tank dies on me. Meanwhile I have tons of acro's from easy to difficult doing nicely.
I'm glad to see others can't keep chalice, I swore I was the only one. Every single one I've tried goes brown then bleaches, then just dies.
Yellow polyps for me. Can't figure it out. They usually blow up real fast, then pinch in and die.
Clams. Any type. I think 6 months is longest I've ever kept one.
I have a Hollywood stunner that's doing great. The last chalice I had bleached out within 30 minutes of putting it in the tank.I have the same problem and love Chalices.
I would try ones that have been around for a while.
Even though most Chalices Die on me ones that have been around for a while do great.
Hollywood Stunner
Miami Hurricane
Mummy Eye
Also when I keep them under T5 they tend to live.
If I put them in a Tank with LED's it is a death sentence for Chalices.

I was insanely ignorant to believe the lfs that chalice can handle nitrates 'just fine'. Plus I didn't acclimate and who knows how many other mistakes I made. The lights weren't the issue because I don't run them high. But I learned my lesson and now my new chalice is doing fine!30 Minutes?
That is Insanely Quick.
What Kind of Lights do you Have?
You must be giving it Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay Too Much Light.
For me it takes at least 4 or so days before a Coral has noticeable issues.
Usually takes at least 2 Weeks for me to have Chalice Problems.
I have never heard of any Coral having Problems after Only 30 Minutes!
I can't get my Jedi mind trick monti to grow. A month in and nothing. It's not dying, it's just not growing. I thought that they were the easiest kind. Go figure. My chalice is growing like crazy and this monti, not so much.
I have one with no growth after 12 Months.
One Month is nothing.
Also remember when something is easy it does not mean it grows fast.
It just means easy to keep as in hard to kill which has absolutly nothing to do with growth.
