Yes the presence of mesenterial filaments is a common feeding response. Even cleaning the glass can trigger it.

Same boat here. Have a new one that has good PE, good color but no interest in growing or encrusting yet. I have other tenuis that are now growing well but they took at least year in my system before deciding to grow.
