pondering a general question?

having been in this hobby for a good period of time. it never ceases to amaze me that when people ask for advice on a post fish purchase that there are people whose first response is STILL --------- research before buying, or why did you buy without researching first. you all know these types. so this is my question. Why respond this way? why is this their first go-to response? if people's request for advice is a sore spot for you, why are you in groups that focus on growing and helping others get into the hobby, it's very odd.

don't get me wrong, i believe that is a valid question once you see the thread or post develop and can conclude that research was not done by someone who bought a blue hippo for a 30g tank for example. but not right out of the gate?

I can't give a specific response because we are talking very generally here but I would surmise that one reason may be to caution others not to follow suite in the future. This forum is an encyclopedia that pops up in many search engines. If a future person has a similar query, maybe they will do the research before buying the fish.
The secondary option is that some people are just born cranky.

I think people get tired of seeing the same mistakes made day after day when researching has never been easier. When I started out you actually had to go into the LFS and speak to a person for advice. We have all been there and not done our research and paid for it so I think people are just trying to get people to understand this hobby doesn't go well when you don't plan and make impulse decisions. Just my two cents.
