I’ve had the tank set up for a week or so now, I’ll do a build thread later. I Decided to go with the Popbloom rl90, I’ve used a lot of different lighting in the past with several being kessils and I have to tell you I’m impressed with the color, shimmer etc that these put out. They are pretty bright and will be testing for PAR today with a buddies par meter, however it’s been a long while since I’ve had a reef tank so wanted to get some thoughts on the color option I have here. Unfortunately the lights sit pretty close to the water surface with the brackets they come with so I’m trying to keep that in mind. I also attached pics of how close it is on the tank before it was set up,I be since added a shade as well. I have it set from 10:30 am - 10:30 pm Aside from intensity as I’ll adjust as needed after testing does this look ok? I’m keeping mainly softies and LPS, will also have a clam eventually.

The height looks pretty good. Looks to be about 8" or so from the water once the tank is filled. I'd just get a baseline with the PAR meter and then watch your corals. You may need to acclimate them to the light though.

Thanks, it’s about 150 at the bottom and around 300 at the top of the rock on the left at that intensity at peak hours. I’m impressed with the output of these lights as well as the shimmer etc.

I have heard comments about how loud they are with the fan running constantly. What are your thoughts/experience with that? Really debating getting some.

Honestly I don’t really notice it unless I’m really paying attention and even then doesn’t bother me at all. My tank right now is the quietest set up I’ve ever had however I have yet to add my skimmer. I have really great hearing and things tend to bother me more so than others so with that said I’m happy with it. But everyone is different on their sensitivity to sound.

I have never even heard the fan running on my Popbloom rl90. Guess I am just lucky.
