New(er) to the hobby and I received this clown from a reputable quarantined fish dealer 4 days ago. A strange pattern of white dots has appeared that run along a line on the fish's body. It is also not eating; it has not eaten since arrival. There have been no fish in the tank for a few months due to a SNAFU involving my BTA eating one of my original clowns, then being unsuccessful in repairing the original female. If it is ich, it definitely came from the LFS I bought my second clown from. Pics attached. Can ich show up in 3 days? I fear the worst. Luckily, I just set my upgrade tank up, so worst case is I can start fresh with quarantined fish in a fresh system.

I noticed that too, my first thought was, do clown fish get hlle?
I would say yes they do. Is this that? Not sure. Also aside from typical hlle, read from some places that certain chemicals can contribute to this. Apart from carbon, and secondary infection that is.

That doesn’t look like ich to me. I would contact the dealer to see what they think it might be since you’ve only had the fish a short time.
It definitely looks like excess mucus being produced by the lateral line pores. I haven’t seen this in clowns before, but I have seen it in some other species. I’m not so worried about those, but the fish not eating is a major problem. Are other animals in the tank doing well, does the water test out well?
