For those who have these large round shaped colonies, is it better to place the frag on the top of a rock so they grow and spread downward or are you guys placing them low on the rock so they grow and spread upward?

I was a zoa addict, and when i first got my tank i went crazy buying them. I dipped all my corals but never quarantined. And i ended up losing all of them due to sea spiders (((
