72g bowfront just got wet Saturday. How long of a cycle can I expect if I got half water from a mature tank and half being freshly mixed saltwater?

Thanks for the welcome back, but this is my first go round at it. Was there another poster named Emery?

Lol. Sorry about that :). I'll change it to welcome :) depending on how you got the rock ( shipped fro. An online vendor etc) there was probably a bit of die off which will kick off a cycle but it should go quicker since the sand and rock already have live bacteria in it

^^ very nice color goin on there.

I bought my rock from a local enthusiast. He had it in a tank to keep it live, then I kept it in a Brute can for a week with some water, heater n powerheads.

Finally upgraded thanks to another forum member. I still have a few frags to glue down but it's coming together nicely. I did have a mystery aptasia show up yesterday so I'm weighing my options on how to nuke it. I'm thinking of lemon juice in a syringe... I'm terrified of it spreading.

Just made the switch from a 60 to 180. Corals are starting to color up again. Was a busy few days last weekend but everything is coming together. Working on the "landscaping" now.

I have a 60 and am contemplating a switch to the same 180 (or larger, if the wife will let me), I'm curious to why you made the switch. Great tank, by the way.

Why did I make the switch ? I spent about six months trying to convince myself not to do it, but as we all know that once this hobby "gets" you
you it really does. The 60 was getting much to crowded. I really like the 24"x24" dimension so that is why I settled on the 180. Then spent some
some time on CL looking for the right used one. Found a nice package deal that was a little rough but just needed a little cleaning up and a
stand that needed painting. I know the setup has passed through some hands over the years and I'm confident someone will recognize
the centerpiece rock. Good luck with whatever you decide. I'm very pleased with the one I made.
