I need to read this because right now I cannot keep SPS corals. I wish one day to have a very large tabling paradise!
what are your usual water parameters?
tank size?
flow?
model of lighting?

that will give us ALL the tools to chime in.

might i suggest a separate thread?

Got a couple of questions 16:1 is the ratio used for no3 to po4. So if I have a No3 reading of 2ppm - 5ppm I am well above the 16:1 ratio if my po4 is .02 to .08 correct?

I understand feeding will raise both NO3 and PO4.

My current po4 readings are .04 to.08 with red sea.
I don't know my no3 readings yet but would bet they are 2ppm.

So just talking our loud here.

This is also a reason for a RTN to occur or a coral to go from a green to a brown to a dead skeleton?

I have a Skimmer, ATS, Mangroves and run GFO. What else would you suggest or what should I remove or run less?

I am very curious to try this out.

60 gallon cub with roughly an 90 gallons of volume.

ime feeding raises phosphates more than nitrates.
if you have a low nutrient system and your alk is above 9. that has caused my birdsnest to rtn repeatedly within a week. i killed them all day long doing so.

make your own thread and let others chime in. please answer the basic questions i originally asked. (including nitrate) without this, i would not consider sps.
my writeup is for a very small percentage of aquarists and may not apply to you.

Another big thank you to Russ265. I took your advice about two months ago and started dosing nitrates to my tank. I keep my nitrates at 4ppm now. I'm trying to get my phosphates up now and I'm not sure how to do that. I hope once I do get my phosphates up I will have even better results than I've had with the nitrate. Here are some before and after shots. Russ265 thanks again

The photos are yours. I went back and look at the post from a couple months ago and another big thanks to twilliard. You recommended flourish nitrogen and that's what I'm using. This is why the site is so good because of guys like you.

No problem Twilliard, but I did keep it on topic and isn't asking question about what your solving keeping it on topic?

Your talking about feeding Nitrates and that is my problem, too much po4 and not enough nitrates.

Ya if you dose your no3 you may see a decrease in po4.
In my tank I manage the po4 by the macros and how much I feed.
If you can get your no3 up to about 2 to 3ppm you will start to see change :)

I switched to potassium nitrate solely due to cost

Yes I was thinking the same thing. What do you recommend that stump remover from Lowe's.
Yes if they have that bottle there.
There are other stump remover brands but not 100% potassium nitrate.
Also watch all your paperwork and logs. If you spill this on them it eats a hole through your paperwork.
Learned that one the hard way :)

Yeah I went to Home Depot and they had a different kind of stump remover than what you all have shown. I'm either going to go to Lowe's and get the right 1 or order it online.THANKS
