power backup

I've opted to purchasing computer battery backups (APC 3000 series), that will run for several hours and hook only 1 pump internal to the tank that draws low wattage, so if i do have a power outtage atleast ill still have some water circulation going on to provide oxygen
I didn't plug in a heater, because after testing the heater sucked down the battery backup power in about 2 hours. I figure the corals and fish can survive a period of time in cold water better then they can in hot.
What are your power outtage plans? How do you guys have your backups set, or are you even running any?

ive always thought of this and if i had the money i would invest it. i had the main breaker on my box for the basement i live in go out and i had a friend help and we started searching for a new one well they didnt make that brand any more so after spending all of day 1 looking for a different option we decided to upgrade the entire box took all of day 2 to fix and in that 48 hours i lost 4 fish but sum how no coral but my temp at the beging of the outage was 81 and when things got fired back up the tank was at 59.

I just bought 2 tripplite 1000 from Costco for $100 each. I also plan to buy a Tunze Safety Connector and a car battery for extra back up. This is all in preparation for my honeymoon in June when I won't be here for a week. While I am here I can rely on my small generator. A power outage is pretty uncommon where I am but for the time and money we have into our tanks, why risk it?

I am getting a generator for when I am here and I am also getting the battery backup for my vortech.

I have a generator, (you have to for hurricane season!), and some battery powered bubblers. As for the APC battery back ups, they work, but the batteries don't last long term. I had one on my nano with just the main powerhead plugged in and would get about 8 hours out of it, which was pretty good. The battery went bad after about a year. After doing a little searching I found that that was about all you could expect from them :(

This runs the entire fishroom (3 tanks), the fridge, sump pumps and well pump.

I lost power for about 18 hours yesterday. I hooked up a 5 amp inverter to my truck and ran a power cord into the house. I was able to run a pump and the tank heater. It worked out well.

I just have a 500 watt power inverter I bought off Amazon for $20. Should run my heater and return pump from the car. Just have to be home to set it up. I know guys that lost power and the tank got down in the 50's. They kept everything alive by tanking cups of water out of the sump and dumping it into the tank to keep the circulation going. The oxygen is more important than the heat for sure.
