flow in any tank kinda revolves around the type of coral being kept, most SPS require higher flow so you might want to consider the type and plan around that maybe?

What may be your best bet is to get an adjustable one like a Jebao RW-4/WP-10, Tunze Nanostream 6040 or a Ecotech MP-10. Most of the small adjustable ones can go from 5 gallon tanks up to 50 gallon tanks.
