Power may go :(

So the power may go out where I live tonight due to large storms, what can I do to protect my tanks? I have battery pumps ready, anything else I can do?

water change water, towels, heating pads, protected outlet to plug everything into, 1 gal jug to put water into to aerate by hand if need be

make sure you no how to churn the water. so your coral and fish have oxygen.

If you have moving blankets wrap the tank with them. Heat water on the grill and fill plastic bottles and let them float in the tank. And some type of water movement even with a large spatula and and a good amount of air.

I went 5days last year with no power and was able to save my tank with mid lost.

Get a generator. Nothing compares to the comfort of knowing everything will be 100% fine. I also hook up my refrigerator, TV and computer... never know power's out in my place when it happens :)

+1 on the generator because I now have in place this year. I figured if I can buy $800 on LEDs and can do $500-$700 for a generator.

Yup Generator! We had a 4 day outage in the winter...... Generator went non stop and Powerd my tanks heater, 2 PH, 1 Section of light, Fridge, Tv, Fan for wood stove, And a couple lights. Lost Nada! Best DUMPSTER find ever ! Lol

I would make extra RODI water now incase you need it. Otherwise everything has been said. The main thing that kills fish from power outtages is lack of oxygen/aerated water. I have battery operated air stones that turn on when the power goes out in my tanks due to this. Stay safe!

Battery pumps and scoop and pour water in the tank. If you have blankets, wrap the tank to prevent or reduce heat loss. The water on the grill idea does work as it helped me survive a ND 1.5 day winter outage...

If possible, borrow a generator or pick up a decent size inverter. Run your return pump or a powerhead off that from the car. If using the car you have a consistent supply of power and can always go get some gas.
