I recently got a PAR meter so I have been watching plenty of videos and reading plenty of threads on PAR meters. I just came across a video from my friend Hillary at Waterlogged about how to rent, use, and understand a PAR meter with many good tips. This video wasn't meant to go into depth on the technology behind PAR meters, but it is excellent as a practical introduction.

Hillary shares some really helpful tips like taking a picture of your tank and making a PAR map by listing the PAR reading at the different locations in your tank. This will help you understand if your PAR levels are high enough (or too high) and also identify the best places to put different types of corals. This also made me think about having a PAR map for different light settings or developing a PAR map for different times of the day as the lights ramp up and ramp down.

What are other creative ways have you found to use a PAR meter with your aquarium?
