I haven't had that problem myself, but I've seen comments on other posts talking about the dangers of that situation to a reef tank. I think it's the elements in the magnet itself that can kill corals. Just did a quick search and here's an article that led me to ask for new probe holders and heater holders for Christmas.
I know it's a common issue with magnets and our tanks, so I'm not surprised by this but..still disappointing when it happens to you. I do have the probe holder above the waterline at the moment so hopefully it will be ok in the short term.
I will soon be getting a new tank up and running with a Trigger Triton sump that I think has probe holders built in so maybe I can avoid a magnet holder all together.
But, the fact remains I purchased this probe holder and it didn't even make it a year before rusting.
I have (2) GHL level sensor holders: PL-LF-Base Magnetic and I’m was going to add the sensor/probe holder. But after finding this thread I’m having some second thoughts and concerns.
Has anyone else had problems with GHL’s magnets?
What ended up being the resolution here?
Assuming GHL sent a replacement, has OP had any other issues?
