Last time I had nitrites this high I got stuck in stall. Been there like for at least 3weeks not knowing whats happening and why my test are high. Try a small water change to get nitrites to max 2ppm. Those bacteria struggle hard to deal with high ppm
Nitrite is not an issue, neither is nitrate. The bacteria don't "struggle" with "high: ppm, it is their food. To that end, none of the readings in this tank are "high".

The only concern is Ammonia and if the system is processing it or not.

Like I said that to me is one persons opinion only . Maybe Fish Fan will share his / Their Source ? as to why that is their opinion ?
What are you questioning? I almost never ask anyone to just blindly follow my advise, I generally do quote experts, such as Randy Holmes-Farley. Likely I can find an expert source for the information I offer 🙂

I am interested in reading about Nitrite not being harmful to fish in a salt water set up. I get conflicting comments on that . Thanks

That's a great question, there is A LOT of false info about nitrite circulating.

Here's a link to a post from Randy Holmes-Farley on nitrite toxicity where he says it's non-toxic in saltwater. He also included a link you can follow to his full article where he explains in great detail why nitrite is non toxic in marine tanks (unlike in freshwater, which is a lot of the confusion, I believe).

I hope this helps!
