I have been working on setting up my ProClear 230. I have just about everything but a protein skimmer. Roughly accounting for displacement of rock and sand it’s right at about 220 ~ 225 gallons total. I plan on replicating my current tank just on a larger scale. Mainly sps dominated with a few mixed in Euphyllia with a medium to medium high fish load. Does anyone have a suggestion on a good budget friendly protein skimmer for this system size?

I am going to be pulling that shelf down and building a floating canopy over it to hold my lighting system.

I’ve heard good things about the reef simplicity 240. Does anyone have any experience with it? I also am wondering if it would even be large enough?

The Simplicity Skimmers are a very good seller for us. You can get a lot of skimmer for your money with one. If you are asking if they are as nice as a Reef Octo or Tunze. Not IMO. You often get what you pay for. The simplicity is a great option if you are on a budget. The previously recommended regal 250 is a better skimmer but at nearly triple the price many people would be happy with the Simplicity. https://www.marineandreef.com/Simplicity_240DC_Protein_Skimmer_p/rati58682.htm
