I'm new to reef tanks and in preparation of my anemone splitting, I'd like to know what the most effective way is to move my anemone off of the live rock it's currently on without damaging it's foot. I'd like to prep it for sale.

Thanks in advance!

If you can see the foot then ice or a butter knife might work. Just work your way around the foot slowly prying up a little at a time. If you can't see the foot you might have to crack the rock open or make the nem move. Keep your powerheads off if you try to make it move on it's own. Shading it or moving the rock somewhere else may prompt it to move.

I've temporarily glued tiles or rock rubble down around the nem and pointed a ph towards it to coax it onto the tile or rock for removal. Another way that I haven't tried is to cover the nem with PVC long enough that it needs to move through it to get to the light and once in the PVC remove it with the nem inside.

For bubble tips I just hang them over a bucket of tank water. They stretch out really far then just let go. Takes ~15-20 minutes.
Yeah, I've heard about doing it that way too. I was thinking about doing it with a nem I want to remove soon but there's other corals on the same rock that I would worry about, how long before the nem let's go?
