Protein Skimmer Flow

Just purchased a Protein Skimmer online which has a flow of 530gph. After making the purchase I read that the rated gph for the pump of a skimmer is not actually what is pumped out into the refugium due to the high volume of air and bubbles. Im just trying to buy the appropriate gph return pump and have a little confusion...This is my first salt water tank so just trying to get everything right and slowely complete my set up.:ooh:

You want to buy the biggest skimmer rated at tank size, as you can for your tank, I would go at least twice the size of your total water volume. They are not used for flow in any way.
You want to get either powerheads or a big pump for a closed loop system. 10x your tank water column minimum, and 20x and higher for a reef tank.
