Cadlights PLS-50 is a great skimmer, but tough to dial in. I've ordered the latest generation in hopes that it is easier to work with. Once it was dialed in, it did a great job.

I would recommend against the IM skimmer. I had one and it produced a little bit of skim mate - but it was very hard to dial in and never really produced a thick foam head. I have the same tank, IM Nuvo 40, and was doing this same hunt. I wanted a skimmer internal as well. Ultimately I went with a HOB Reef Octopus Classic 90 and couldn't be happier. It pulls great skim, is super easy to adjust and easier to clean/empty in my opinion. If you're really set on staying internal I would get the Tunze DOC 9004 skimmer (DC if you can spring for it). Super discreet and great feedback surrounding it. I didn't go with it because I would have to give up the right chamber entirely to it. It doesn't fit in the "skimmer" chamber.

Any pictures? I am wondering how much attention it draws.
