Attaching both photo and video so you can better see it. Basically looking for advice on making it grow better.
I brought this large frag of Pulsing Xenia from a local reefer. When I first got it, it looked great. The mother colony he had also looked great. I spent some time in front of his tank and got to see much active his xenia was pulsing, both the main and the frag. He had plenty of flow and light.
That was 2 months ago. His Xenia frag in my tank has kind of stagnated. I think it's looking much thinner, and doesn't do much pulsing. The first week in my tank looked fine, pulsing very actively, but after first week it stopped pulsing and started looking thinner. For the last few weeks it has looked about like this - not getting worst but not getting better.
I only have softies in my tank: rockflower anemone, GSP, kenya tree. They've all been doing fine. Nitrates is between 0 and 2ppm, 78F-79F, 2.023 SG. The Xenia is exposed to indirect but constant medium wave action. I dose chaetogrow to keep up refugium growth (so iodine should be good). I also dose tetraselmis phyto daily for the feather duster worm. Not sure if Xenia benefits from the phyto, but its not looking like it. It's a 30 gallon biocube that's two years old.
I've always heard that Xenia are super hardy and will take over the tank, but I haven't been able to get my frag to grow.
