Has anyone ever saw purple chitons before? There are some that are white and some that are purple. Could this come from some of them eating the coraline algae? I also wanted to know everyones thoughts on if I should add these two my new setup of the 120 gallon tank. I like coraline algae but im guessing these little chitons wont be able to put to big of a dent in eating coraline, but it does not look like there doing a very good job clearing off the little bit of surface algae growing on this rock. I just dont want to introduce a pest to the new tank that i will regret further down the road. The 120 gallon is a bare bottom and I plan on using cerith snails and maybe an emerald crab.

Chitons come in many colors, These look like Purple Chitons. They are peaceful algae eaters that will ONLY eat algae and nothing else.

EDIT : actually some species are known to eat sponge.
