Purple Tang in 75g?

Hello!
So, I remember seeing this scarred purple tang at my LFS in FL, and I've always wanted one since.
Would a Purple Tang ((No more than 3 inches)) be a good fit in a 75g? I've got gsps, kenya trees, a tuxedo urchin and just 1 melanarus wrasse. Soon to add more!

You should be fine. You have 48" Length and 18" width and on average purple gets to 4-5"

Honestly I would say no

Unless you have some real solid plans in the next year to get a tank double the size

Purple tangs grow to be aggressive, territorial, and need the swimming space

This fish will be ok for the first few months but will likely grow into a problem needing to be rehomed, or a terror to your other fish

I would recommend a more peaceful slightly smaller tang like a tomini or bristletooth

had a purple in a 150 and a red sea 250. did fine in both. tangs absolutely do better in a 6ft plus tank though

They can be in a min of 55 gallons so a 75 gallon should be just fine. They do like to nip at corals, so just keep an eye on him. They are truly beautiful. Im jealous!

No I dont think so, yellow sure but purples are buttholes. I have one the same size in my 300 (he is growing fast actually) and he is a little buttnugget! Likes to chase fish and keeps picking fights with the sailfin who is probably 5 times his size. He is with a sailfin and a sohal so they all keep each other in check, but all 3 purples Ive had are nasty temperament, which is why I say no!

I kept a Purple Tang in a 4 foot 75 gal system for about 8 years until I upgraded. It did great. The Tang police will tell you no, but so long as it’s the only Zebrasoma in the system, it’ll be fine.

Definately would be! Yellows and Blacks are way too much!

If it’s the only tang and your rock work is more race track like should be fine. My purple like to stay near his house for the most part but will frequently shoot out race around the tank and shoot back into his tunnel.

75g is like 60g with rocks but don't worry, I saw 6 shamus in a swimming pool.

I would hate to see this one in a 4ft tank. It isn't mean but it runs a 7ft tank. My wild yellows are 4-5" my purple is closer to 7"
