A while back I saw a video where they were inserting pvc into the rocks and placing plugs in them. What's the benefits of doing that? I'm getting ready to start a sps evo 13.5 build. Is there any benefit doing this to a small tank? TIA

As far as I can tell, the benefit to doing such a thing is so that you can keep the frags on the plug and have a spit for them.

To me it's counter intuitive because you'd want to remove sps from a plug to and only introduce live coral to the tank to avoid any pests from hitchhiking.

For me, there's no benefit
