So I have tried twice to QT a Naso Tang. The first time, I believe it was poor fish chose, on my part. Second time fish looked great swam well and ate good, all good right? Nope in its third week it died over night due to bacterial infection. Some say due to stress other say the fish had it but since I put in a 20gal long it was stressed. The Naso was 5" overall.
So my question is. What size tank did all you successful Naso owners QT them in and what size was it at QT time?

Thanks in advance

The fact that it was 5” already was probably the problem. I wouldn’t do more than like a 3” one in a 20, but if you want to start with a bigger one then I would try and do a minimum of a 4 ft tank, at least optimally.

Ya I figured that was the problem. First rule never trust the LFS, because they will gladly sell you another fish.

I'd recommend at least a 40b for tangs, a 55 is better, as mentioned above with the 4' of swimming room. I bought mine used from Craig's list. I got it for 100 bucks tank, stand, and canopy. Not prettiest tank in world but I keep QT in my unfinished basement, so I don't really care how it looks because it gets the job done! Sorry for your losses!

I try and provide them with as natural environment as I can. These two tangs are in my 40 breeder going thru quarantine now. The pbt is a little over three inches. Both of them pace the tank back and forth all day. Six weeks and they go into my dt which is 6x2. The fake rocks are made by reefflections.
