I'm setting up a new qt rack and wondering what color everyone thought was the best to have.

The tanks I have are currently painted black.

I don't think there is a best color to use, though I like @jsker 's idea a lot! Are you talking about painting the back of the tanks? I would also suggest not having more than one QT within 10 feet of each other and the display. Here's the reason why with some additional info: http://reef2reef.com/threads/aerosol-transmission.190292/

yes I'm talking about the color of the paint on the back and sides. Now it is black which I feel makes the fish feel more secure but harder to see sometimes. White is easier to see whats going on.

I have the qt system more than 3 meters away from the display equipment.

IDK about best color to use...but you need to be comforting to the fish and NOT distracting to you with the fish. For best observation would be my opinion. need to be able to spot things as soon as possible.
I dont see an issue with black could even be an advantage, mine is all clear though no back grounds with pvc and a chuck of LR(sometimes).

IDK about pink, not in style ;)

Seriously now, what about a grey? Light grey? That would have the combination of the black for security and white, just a thought.

I think a deep blue would look nice. :)

Or paint the bottom black so the crud is easier to see, but the back/sides white so it's easier to see diseases on the fish.

If anyone is still tracking this thread... I'm finding my new QT fish are obsessed with reflections from the glass, on all sides. Almost to their physiological detriment. Could this be a problem? Is this why many here are painting their QT tank? I imagine so...
