What are the suggestions of when putting a new fish from lfs. Should you treat with coppersafe or just watch fish for a month or so and see what's up ?

People do both. If you want to play it safe follow the QT protocol Jay has in the disease forum. I do observation only and medicate if I see symptoms but I'm willing to accept the risks that come with that.
