I plan to buy some Green Chromises for my 75 Gallon FOWLR tank that I have had set up since August, as of now I have 2 Turbo Snails, 4 Bubble Bee Snails, and 4 Peppermint Shrimp, I've had all these Inverts for about a month, and I wont lie but I haven't seen one of the shrimp, bubble bee's and now I cant find one of the turbo snails, I know the shrimp like to hide and when I done a test on the tank yesterday the water was fine and the water in my Qt was fine also but I'm going to take water samples to my local fish store this weekend to make sure and I'm ordering some stuff from Dr Foster & Smith next week for the Inverts, but along with the Chromises I plan on 2 Banded Butterfish and 1 Pygmy Angelfish. so my Question is how many Chromises can I put in this size tank I know that they should be added in odd numbers is it ok for them the be Qt'ed together ?

Welcome to R2R. Honestly Ive never had much luck keeping groups of chromis, they always end up being one for me. If I were to try again I would start with a larger group of at least 7 or 9

I luckily still have 3 green chromis living for the past 2 months.

I first started with 2 and then added another 1. I will try and add another 3 soon.

I would go with a high number like 9 or above, in case the pecking order narrows a few out, you will still have a decent "school" left. and yes, you can QT them all together, although chromis a very tough fish, and usually arent too susceptible to disease.

So Dowtish, your saying I should Qt them but I really shouldn't have to ?, and that won't be too many in my 75 gallon with the later additions of the 2 butterflys and the angel without it being over crowded ?

I think that depends on how you plan on exporting your nutrients. If you have an overrated skimmer, and do regular water changes and dont feed to much you will be fine.

If you are set up to QT them, by all means do so. But if you have that many chromis crammed into too small of a tank there might be some stress and aggression. I personally wouldnt Qt Chromis, but thats just me.

Typed from my phone, because I have nothing better to do.

I've had my 4 for over a month so far without any noticeable aggression. I feed mostly 3 times a day which I feel helps and I've read that they benefit greatly from it.
