Question about BRS Carbon filter

I'm trying to figure out what the "Chlorines 35 000 @ 1 GPM" and "Chloramines 3 500 @ 0.5 GPM" stand for....what exactly does this mean? what does the 35,000 mean? and the GPM?

35000 means total gallons this can treat, and GPM is at what max gallons per minute rating it is affective I believe. So it's lifetime of the filter.
basically it can remove chlorine from 35000 gallons of water but if you push more than 1g/minute through it, more chlorine will slip by the carbon and won't get bound to it, making it a bit less effective at treating the water.

daybreaksky did a good job of summarizing what that rating means. Ultimately, it'll always depend on your source water supply to a certain degree, but those are the ratings provided by our carbon block manufacturer.
