I keep hearing acro's need stability, stability is key.
My alk, cal mag, temp & salinity never move, very stable.
I have been reading how important N03 & P04 are. I can not seem to keep them stable.
Question is, is it better to have N03 & p04 fluctuate a little but try to get them in range? Ex. Dosing or eliminating / W/C which the levels to move but will be closer to ideal range.
Or just run the tank & let them settle maybe outside "quote" ideal range but have them stable? Which would sps prefer?

Depending on your export, I would just keep up maintenance how you have been. What has your PO4 been?

So my P04 & N03 have always been low & I have always tried to raise them by feeding & i have been adding fish. I now have a stacked tank
But p04 is normally. 01-.02
N03 3 - 5
(Hanna & nyos kits)

I have been adding reef roids & last p04 test was .15 I tested 3 times because it was so high.

So now I am wondering is taking down going to cause more issues than when it was low but stable

Ive been adding reef roids in an effort to raise my phosphate and nitrate as they are both low, phosphate is .018 (hanna ULR) and nitrate is undetectable using the red sea pro.
Looks like your phosphate came up sharply, what effect has it had on your nitrate?

My nitrate stayed pretty low, it was at ill 3. Nyos test kit.
(I also got brightwell n03 & p04 when my nutrients were very low. Neonitro & neophos I think. They helped)

I do not know that nitrate and phosphate need to be kept more stable than normally happens in a reef tank.

I would just make sure there is at least some that you can detect.
