I've had a brittle star that has lived in my tank for 25 years. I used to give it a piece of shrimp or scallop whenever I had a thought I should feed it.
Over the last 3-4 years I don't bother directly feeding it as it will sequester the detritus and feed whatever is in it from leftover food, poop, ect. I only see the arms, it never comes out. Most of the time it's in a 1" Pvc tube that is positioned near a detritus area. A rock it can get under will work as well.
You can see the bristles move food down the line along it's legs into is hiding spot. It would be cool to have someone do a time lap video on it.
