I recently set up a new reef tank, and while i was filling the aquarium, i used a bucket that i had used earlier that day for a water change on a tank that i believe has parasites.
what are the chances that they would spread to my new aquarium? the tank i did the water change on a fresh water tank with a Betta, which recently developed some small black specks on his tail fin. also, i am returning the betta to my lfs and i plan to use his old tank for a coral quarantine tank. should i get a new sponge for the filter that was on the tank or is it safe to use again after its dried out for a few weeks? any reply's are appreciated thanks

Just learned from a few forums that these black spots most likely are the bettas natural color which can change rapidly
