1. How should I store my RODI water for my 15 gallon aquarium?
2. Do salt mixing buckets have to be food grade?
3. How often should I be making RODI water?
4. What are you tips for water changes?
Edit: 5. how often should I top the water off?

Thank you in advance!

Personally I use jugs like the below to hold my rodi water. Any type of food grade container will work

I use the 5 gallon buckets from home depot, they are cheap and well built. I'm not sure if they are food grade but I've been using them for years.

You should always have enough rodi water on hand for an emergency water change.

Get a cheap powerhead and cheap heater to mix and heat the water for you

Thanks, I just bought I believe a food grade 5 gal bucket from Aubuchon so I think that should be good. Yeah and this 7 gal things look great. I also ordered a cheap powerhead and heater so I should be all set. I'll be posting a build thread soon too, anyways thank you!

I have a 32 gallon brute that my rodi water goes in, and it has a float, so when I use water it makes more.

I make salt (very infrequently) in 5 gallon Home Depot buckets.

I really don’t do water changes, but 10-20% every other week is what I was targeting, but I started doing research on no water changes and went that route.

I also have an ATO, so I top off often. Manually id do once a day I think.

I have a 15 gallon tank, and the evaporation is about is a half gallon per day (based on my 2.5 gallon ATO reservoir that lasts me 4-5 days).

An ATO (auto top off) is about $80 for the auto aqua smart ATO on amazon, they are pretty good, I have 2 of them and so far lasted me 3 years and one year, its one of the best $80 you can spend on this hobby, otherwise you are a slave to topping off every day and its not fun

The link doesn't go to the product it just goes to amazon home page. Does the ATO have a built in flood watch thingy?

ya this site is buggy, when you type amazon it shows up as a link even though I don't mean it as a link. But you wrote amazon so now you know what I mean lol

This is the ATO I mean..

How often are you creating RODI water?

I’ve used grey Brute trash cans from Home Depot for all water purposes without apparent issue. Ro/di, new salt water, limewater/kalkwasser, sumps, and refugia.

usually once a week. On the weekends I change the water and fill up the ATO reservoirs, I have 3 tanks, so the rodi is usually going all weekend.
