So I currently have a 40 gal breeder. Lps and softies. I run 2 Nero 3 and a tidal hob. Was thinking of adding a sump and hob overflow. If I do the sump and remove the tidal. Would it be good to add a gyre with the Nero 3 ‘s and turn down.

Robust circulation is required in a reef tank. Not familiar with the equipment. It’s your money. Get you some.

Nothing wrong with a gyre if you want one. I have a pair in my 40 breeder, plus the return flow plus a jebao mlw behind the rocks.

If you do a HOB overflow, take a look at Lifereef;

I've been running one on my 55 gallon for over 3 years. It's been flawless.
