Hard corals take one part Alkalinity and one part Calcium to create their skeleton :)

Clownfish and Sea Anemones live in a partenership call symbiosis. The pair works together to keep each other safe and protects the other from any type of danger if it may present its self.

Bubble tip anemones do not need to mate to make babies they split in two and form two new anemones all by themselves. Mine have split several times through the year.

there are three main PAR spectrum spikes and they are all important in healthy coral growth although red is the most important

"Protein skimming does remove some trace elements. Which elements and how much of each is debatable, however, it is widely accepted that Iodine and Iron are both depleted by protein skimming. 202 mg/g Calcium, 21.2 mg/g Magnesium, 5.63 mg/g Phosphate, and 30.3 micrograms/g Iron have been measured via spectrometer in dried skimmate."

the fact can be found here along with other about skimming! Bonneville's Protein Skimmer thread - Reef Builders Forums

If a coral has turned white(bleached) it is not necessarily dead.

If a coral is white or bleached it is because they lost their zooxanthellae, which is the photosynthesizing algae that inhabits their tissue, and provides them with food, energy, and color.

So, a coral can ,if provided with proper conditions, revive and began to grow colorful tissue and show polyp extension once again after bleaching:wink:

Kraylen, maybe one of us can win this 1!!!! Lol...i hope

There are many ways to make your reef tank thrive. Some things will work for one person, but for some reason will not work for another. Some use calcium reactors, kalk, water changes, 2-part dosing, etc etc. but in the end its all about growing a mature reef!

When polyps usually close up and show UN-happiness, usually check pH, Alk and DKH first as these could be first signs of parameters being off and not to the liking of the polyps.
