Radion gen 4 defuser or not??

Currently using two gen 4 rations on a Red Sea reefer 250. should I be using defusers and if so what’s the benefit. Thanks Joe

diffusers are normally used to reduce the "shimmer/disco ball" effect and helps blend the colors a bit better. it does reduce PAR marginally and can trap heat, so make sure to inspect lenses/diodes once in a while.

the main thing it is used for is to stop light spill. as in, stops the light from being seen away from the tank and focuses it more over the tank

Let me tell you, those gen4 diffusers are gold. They are coveted because you can't get them anymore.

I still run G4s and have diffusers on all of them. I find that it offers a better blending of the single source light, and will never part with them unless they go with the sale of my G4s. Which, good luck getting me to part with them.

They are still the crown jewel of the radion line.

I modded my Gen 4 XR15s to take Gen 5/6 diffusers because as @Sisterlimonpot mentioned gen 4 diffusers are long gone. I Just glued 4 little magnets to the lights. I have no idea if the diffuser functions any better or worse than the gen4 diffusers but they seem to work fine

This is brilliant thank you, I was worried I’d be losing to much direct light for my sps.

I can't say for sure, but it seems like they use the exact same diffuser material.
