Ranco Dual stage Controller to control heating and cooling.

This unit is about 18 months old and works perfectly.
I purchased it from ETC with the plugs and outlets prewired.

I had them wire it with shorter output plugs to make the setup cleaner. They are about 18" long rather than the full length.

Sorry but I have a dumb question for you. I have been looking at these for a while and was planning on the single stage, do you have to use/set the cooling stage? Did you have a chiller on this?

I had one side set up for the heater and one side set up for a cooling fan. Cooling fans directed across the surface of a smaller tank work quite well in the summer.
Never trust a heater not to stick on and run your tank up to 95 degrees. That is what led me to this controller. I lost over a grand in corals when that happened to me.
You do not have to ues the cooling side, but it always kept my tank within 2 degrees.
