Random invert deaths?

I was just curious what the feeling is on this. From what I understand snails often just kick the bucket and don't have long lives in our tanks. Does the same hold true for crabs?

I sadly found my Sally dead this morning. I was so disappointed as he was a very entertaining part of the tank. Always very active and constantly searching for food. Could it just be a random death? Potentially a murderous fish? Params are all stable and all the rest of the crabs, snails and urchin are alive and kicking.

What are stable params? Inverts are sensitive to nitrate. Anything new to the tank? Meds?

If it was murdered, it would probably have been torn up during the attack. Was it damaged, or whole and intact dead?
I use Bayer as a dip, and if I am not careful I have noticed that it is fairly easy to not rinse well enough after dipping and shrimp & hermit crabs respond by dying fairly rapidly from incidental poisoning.

Nitrates are always around 5

I did run a round of polyp lab medic. Have never had issue with it before.

Bummer if that was the cause

After looking up the polyp lab medic it claims to be reef safe and invert safe. IDK?

all my crabs have disappeared... but my melanarus wrasse is huge.

Lol. I don't think my six line would is the culprit. He is smaller than the crab. The Sally usually chased any fish away that got in his area.

Lol. Nuts how perfectly intact the molts are. Looked like an entire crab

Happy Sally is still kicking. Love that dude. Just so long as he doesn't eat any fish

Hahaha! Yay!

I was so disappointed when I killed my very first sea creature - a hermit crab. Then I discovered it was just a molt [emoji28] what relief!

Bayer? Like, the people medicine? I'm going to look this up! What's it for?
